I recently picked up an iPhone 16 Pro Max, about a month ago. As a no-case iPhone owner, I didn’t want to damage the soft aluminum exterior of the 17 Pro. And since, I was already not buying the latest model, I decided to buy a Refurbished unit to save even more money.
I actually had a very good experience because my refurbished iPhone was super clean and looked like new. The battery was used for only a few battery cycles, retaining almost all of its’ original capacity. And since it was a relatively new model, I even still have a few months of the 1-year of Apple care left over. Below, I’ve rounded up some refurbished iPhone deals so you can save money too. If you don’t mind not having the latest model, and you’re not a perfectionist, a refurbished/renewed phone might make a lot of sense.

I’m happy with my purchase, and I think you may be too. I’d suggest looking at “Renewed Premium” condition if micro-scratches bother you. But if you’re just going to slap a case on your phone, maybe you’re willing to save even more money with “Excellent” or “Fair” condition devices.
Refurbished iPhone comes with a return policy, so if you’re not happy with the condition of the phone you’re received. You can send it back and get another model.
What to Look for in Refurbished iPhones
The difference between Fair, Excellent, and Premium condition will come down to cosmetic defects and battery health. If you are the type of person who throws on a case on your phone, than minor scratches of dings are not likely to phase you, and it’s a great way to save money. When something is imperfect, you also have less anxiety about causing further damage. Battery health is worth investigating right away when recieving your refurbished iPhone. Recent versions of iOS have a very easy way to Setting to see your battery health. I’d avoid anything below 80% health, unless you get a fantastic deal and can budget your own battery replacement. Most Excellent/Premium condition Refurbished oPhones are likely to still have years of service remaining in their battery packs.
